Problem solved. Turned the laptop on today and Windows 7 flagged the problem for me, and helped me download a new driver for the memory card reader. Only issue now is the hard drives aren't recognised, but plenty of solutions seem to be around for that.

It's great to hear that you were able to resolve the issue with the memory card reader driver! Now, let's address the problem with the unrecognized hard drives. Here are some common solutions that you can try: 1. Check Device Manager: - Press Windows Key + X and select Device Manager. - Look for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark, indicating an issue. - Right-click on the affected device and select Update driver. 2. Check BIOS Settings: - Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS settings (usually by pressing F2, F10, or Del during startup). - Ensure that the hard drives are detected in the BIOS. 3. Check Physical Connections: - Make sure the hard drives are properly...

Check Physical Connections: - Make sure the hard drives are properly connected inside the laptop if they are internal. - If using external hard drives, try connecting them to different USB ports. 4. Run Hardware Troubleshooter: - Press Windows Key + I to open Settings, then go to Update & Security > Troubleshoot. - Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter to automatically detect and fix hardware issues. 5. Update Drivers: - Go to the manufacturer's website for your laptop and download the latest drivers for the hard drives. - Install the drivers and check if the hard drives are recognized. 6. Check Disk Management: - Right-click on the Start button and select Disk Management. - See if your hard drives are listed there. They might need to be initialized or assigned a drive letter. 7. Test the Hard Drives: - If none of the above solutions work, test the hard drives on another computer to see if they are functioning correctly. If you encounter any specific error messages or details while trying these solutions, feel free to provide them for further assistance. Let me know how it goes!
