Whenever I download an application or open one, a file folder for download is left on my desktop. I contacted support and they told me to safe boot which I did and it didn’t help. Whenever I take a screenshot the screenshot folder opens on my desktop and same with the others.

Solution
To address the issue of folders being left on your desktop after downloading or opening applications, and the screenshot folder automatically opening after capturing screenshots, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

Downloaded Files/Folders Issue:

  1. Check Default Download Location:
    • Open your browser settings and verify the default download location. Ensure it's set to a specific folder.
    • Change the download location as needed.
    []Reset File Associations:
    • Right-click on a folder on your desktop, choose "Open With" > "Choose Another App".
    • Select "File Explorer" and check "Always use this app to open .folder files".
    • Repeat this process for other folders on your desktop.

    ]Run System File Checker:

    • Run the command: sfc /scannow to scan and repair corrupted system files.

      Screenshot Folder Issue:

    []Change Screenshot Folder Location:
    • Press Windows key + Print Screen to take a screenshot. When the folder opens, right-click on the Pictures folder and choose "Properties".
    • Go to the "Location" tab and set the correct folder path for storing screenshots.
    [
    ]Desktop Cleanup:
    • Organize your desktop by moving files and folders to a different location to prevent clutter.
    []Check for Malware:
    • Run a full scan using Windows Defender or an antivirus program to ensure your system is clean.
    [
    ]Look for Auto-Start Programs:
    • Check Task Manager's Startup tab to see if any programs are set to launch at startup that might be causing these behaviors.
    • Disable unnecessary startup programs.

      Additional Tips:

      • Recent Changes: Identify any recent software installations or system changes that coincide with the appearance of these folders.
      • System Restore: Consider restoring your system to a point before the issue started.
      • Update Windows: Ensure your Windows is up to date to get the latest bug fixes and patches.
      • Debris Cleaning: Regularly delete unnecessary files or folders to keep your desktop clean and organized.
If the problem persists, consider seeking assistance from a professional to perform more in-depth system diagnostics.
