Windows 7 Fix Screen Issues When Playing Games or Videos: Dump File Permission Help Needed

the screen comes up most usualy when trying to play a game or video. I didnt include the dump file as it is showing locked and needs permission i amd the owner nd admin i dont know how to get it here

Hello and welcome to the forums.
First make sure your machine is configured properly to facilitate the collection of .dmp files.

Go to Start and type in sysdm.cpl and press Enter
Click on the Advanced tab
Click on the Startup and Recovery Settings button
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked
Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump << where your .dmp files can be
found later.
Click OK twice to exit the dialogs, then reboot for the changes to take effect.

Do your best to accumulate the data required.
Run the SF Diagnostic tool (download and right click the executable and choose run as administrator)
Download and run CPUz. Use the Windows snipping tool to gather images from all tabs including all slots populated with memory under the SPD tab.Likewise RAMMon. Export the html report, put everything into a desktop folder that you've created for this purpose, zip it up and attach it to your next post (right click it and choose send to, compressed (zipped) folder.

I was kinda hoping that kemical (our resident blue screen guy) might be available to help. In his absence I will attempt to start with some tips.
First.... this looks like a relatively new installation of Windows 7 and as a consequence is missing some updates not the least of which is Service Pack 1. I suggest that you first attempt to catch up on your windows updates.
Second.... I suggest that you go here http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model...te_id=1&region_id=1&tab=download#/downloadTab
Confirm that, that is your exact Model Name and Number for your Vaio Laptop and then download the most recent drivers available. Paying particular attention to any BIOS update as well as the driver for your AMD SATA Controller Driver under "System Components". Double check device manager for problem devices and attempt to fix them using that link for drivers.
And third.... You apparently have Symantec / Norton installed on this system. My suggestion would be to remove it, first by using the Programs and Features Applet in the Control panel and then follow that up by running the vendor specific proprietary removal tool found here https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20080710133834EN_EndUserProfile_en_us

Hi,
just to confirm Troubles post your bsod was caused by AMD Storage drivers. The support page for your system does carry slightly later drivers and as above can be found here:

You'll find the SATA driver in the System Component section.

You also need to update to Service pack 1 which can be found here:

This is in the form of an iso meaning you need to burn it to disk.

If SP1 won't install you may need to run the update readiness tool:

You will still need to run Windows update after installing the above.

That's pretty much it really just follow Troubles suggestions and see how you go.. Oh and don't forget about Norton, it really is a horrible bit of software. Back in the day it was the business but sadly not anymore.

Well i figured i would update all the other stuff as well so i updated the bios that was along with all the others and now my screen is complete black when i turn the computer on

Update: now it goes to the vaio screen and just sits there frozen

Did you make sure the download page was correct for your model?

Can you enter the bios at all?

It seems i was trying these options earlier before reading the link u just posted and i didnt make sure of the model before downloading which was stupid on my part lol i just followed the link u had posted and after install it said it was goin to shutdown im guessing to make changes take affect and after removing battery and black screens at one point it did come on and showed a menu for repair and to start normal in 30 seconds and froze that way

We only have what you have provided to work from. You have the computer right in front of you, it's important that we all double check the information we have available.
Bottom line is unless there is something unique (information we do not have) about your particular Vaio, I don't suspect that the BIOS update is at fault unless of course something catastrophic happened during the flashing process.
