Windows 7 frequent blue screen!! :(

Every hour or so, sometimes even within 10 minutes, the computer will shut down to the blue screen. It seems to shut down when I'm using firefox while downloading/installing something, but it also has shutdown down randomly by itself. Device manager says video and sound drivers are up to date.
Anyone know what the problem could be?
Thanks for reading!

Hello and welcome,

Was this an upgrade installation from XP or Vista?

In order to troubleshoot your problem we need to know more detailed specs of your system hardware.

1. Go to Start > Run, and type msinfo32, look under the Components section for hardware identification
2. Go to Control Panel > Device Manager and look for any entry that has a yellow flag beside it
3. The manufacturer name and model number of your PC, if applicable
4 Please fill out your computers specs in the User Control Panel here on the site as well. It will then appear next to your name. look at my posting and you'll see the drop-down arrow.

The exact make and model of your motherboard and would be of great help also.

this was an upgrade from vista 32 bit to windows 7 64 bit.

there are no yellow flags in device manager
where can I find info on the motherboard?

This is a perfect example of what I've been saying about upgrades and that hundreds of useless files are left on your system

This is not a Windows 7 file, it is an old XP file.

I would recommend you start over and do a "clean" install.

NOTE: You will have to re-install your 3rd-party applicatiuons.

completely wiped the drive and did a clean stall. Still having problems...
It worked fine until I began to download firefox

it seems to happen a lot in the middle of downloads.

could it be some sort of memory problem?

Did Windows Update provide any new drivers for your hardware.

What is the exact error message you receive when using Firefox?

Have you visited Dell's site for updates Vista drivers?

I was having the same kind of issue. My error came up as "motufwa.sys" or something like that. I installed all available important updates and that seemed to take care of the issue. I haven't crashed in about a day. System seems to be stable now and really working well. I didn't do anything more than that. I did install build 7201 this morning and everything seems to be working well. My MOTU audio seems to work just fine (I hated Vista because the audio drivers and Vista just would not work together).

Thanks for all the help but I have found the culprit!
It was my Belkin USB wireless G adapter. I noticed all the problems were happening while I was doing something with broadband so i disconnected it and plugged my computer directly into my router. No problems at all now!!

If anyone is having similar problems and has the same adapter; I have the Belkin Wireless G Network Adapter F5D7050 FCC ID:RAXWN450TH

the driver that caused to problem wasLink Removed due to 404 Error (Version 4xx for me)

idk if the other versions cause problems or if it is just something with my system.

Thanks again for the quick responses and help!

I have sort of a same problem but i am using wired connection so will have a play with different ethernet drivers

USB Wireless adapter

I am also having issues whenever I use a browser. Every time I try to use a browser I eventually get a BSOD in my new windows 7 installation.

I'm using a ZyXEL G202, though I think this may be more of a windows issue since I'm seeing recurrent issues cropping up around the net about USB wireless adapters and windows 7.

Does anybody know about this?
