Hello everyone,

Got a problem with a fresh install on my laptop like the title says. Normally I can always figure pc related problems myself but this is my second night trying to fix it and I"m about to give up. So my last resort is to create a topic here, hopefully someone can help me out and figures something I haven't tried yet (or make a conclusion my laptop is ****ed).

So here's the situation. Bought this samsung R710 laptop about 2 years ago with vista premium on it. With windows 7 release got a digital legit version through my student program on MSDNAA. Downloaded the image, burned, install went all smooth. So basically I've been cruising on windows 7 professional 32 bit since the release without ANY problem.

Thing is now, computer was getting slow and started to see some malware and spyware so like most people do then, time for fresh windows install! So yesterday I started the process of getting the fresh install. Backing up all my files on my external hdd en found my windows 7 dvd again. So my computer is nearly completely empty, something like 250gb free of the 300gb.

Got the disc in, rebooted my pc in the hope that the installation starts. And here comes the problem, it's getting the disc and i'm getting the screen with windows is loading the files, then the windows is starting logo. Then I see some low resolution big *** mouse appearing on the screen and I"m like, well this is going fine, this is the installation starting like I remember. Well after a few seconds, the laptop just shuts down and just reboots. And this happens really EVERY frikkin time. So basically I'm not getting into the installation of windows 7.

So already tried alot of things, like doing the upgrade instead of the fresh install ( yes I know, windows 7 upgrade to windows 7 but I was just trying everything out). Well this gives the error that I dont have enough harddisk space which is really strange aswell. I tried doing a fresh install through while my pc is turned on in the setup of the disc. This actually went fine, the installation started getting the "windows is copying files" and all untill the point the computer has to restart to finish the installation. Here is where it goes wrong, from the setup on my desktop windows starts installing but when it reboots it just does the same thing again. It wants to enter the installation but it goes into a endless reboot loop.

Well luckily i'm still able to get back into my pc since it's now on some strange dual boot where it says 1 option with "windows setup" and the other with "windows 7"where the latter one gets me back into my pc normally.

I'm really out of ideas, tried nearly everything, from installing random drivers like for my videocard to updating my bios. At this point I don't even mind going back to vista but samsung never gave me a vista disc so I'm basically stuck on this shitty windows 7 installation which I want to get rid of.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would be really grateful, if you want additional information or if I tried something, just ask. Getting really frustrated since I wasted about 10 hours on this -_-.

Laptop information:
Samsung R710
Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU @2,00 GHz
4,00 gb (2,99gb usable) RAM
Nvidia Geforce 9600M GT

Thanks for reading and potential help.

It seems like you're encountering difficulties with reinstalling Windows 7 on your Samsung R710 laptop. Let's troubleshoot this issue step by step:
### Troubleshooting Steps:
1. Check Installation Media:
- Ensure that the Windows 7 installation disc you are using is not damaged. Try creating a new installation disc or using a different USB drive with the Windows 7 installation files.
2. BIOS Settings:
- Check your BIOS settings. Make sure that the boot order is set to boot from the installation media (DVD/USB) first. You can usually access the BIOS by pressing a specific key (like F2 or Del) during startup.
3. Reset BIOS:
- Sometimes resetting the BIOS to default settings can resolve boot issues. You can usually find an option to reset to defaults in the BIOS settings.
4. Check Hardware:
- Verify that your laptop's hardware components, especially the hard drive and RAM, are functioning correctly. You can use diagnostic tools to check the health of your hardware.
5. Disconnect External Devices:
- Remove any unnecessary external devices connected to your laptop during the installation process. Sometimes external devices can cause boot issues.
6. Partition and Format:
- During the installation process, make sure to delete all existing partitions on your hard drive and perform a clean installation. This ensures that any existing data or partitions are not causing conflicts.
7. Install from Boot Menu:
- Instead of starting the installation from within a running Windows environment, try booting directly from the installation media. You can usually access the boot menu by pressing a specific key (like F12) during startup.
8. Verify Installation File Integrity:
- If you burned the installation disc yourself, verify the integrity of the burned files. Corrupted installation files can cause installation issues.
9. Try Safe Mode:
- You can also try booting into Safe Mode to troubleshoot any potential driver conflicts or issues that might be causing the reboot loop during installation.
10. Reinstall Windows Vista:
- If all else fails, consider reinstalling the original operating system (Vista) that came with your laptop. You may need to obtain a Windows Vista installation disc from Samsung support.
### Additional Steps:
  • If you have access to another computer, you can create a bootable USB drive with Windows 7 installation files using tools like Rufus.
  • Ensure that you have all necessary drivers available for your laptop model for the Windows installation.
Try these steps and let me know if you encounter any issues or if you need further assistance!
