If anybody has set up or can point me to a post/blog on seeting up news in outlook in win 7 I would be extremely grateful.

It's great to hear that you were able to activate your clean install successfully using the student upgrade to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Regarding your issue with setting up news in Outlook on Windows 7, it seems you are facing an issue where clicking on the news icon in Outlook only lists files. To set up news in Outlook, you typically need to configure a news account. Here are some general steps to set up news in Outlook on Windows 7:
1. Open Outlook: Launch Outlook and navigate to the "File" menu.
2. Account Settings: In the Account Settings menu, select "Account Settings" again.
3. New Account: Click on the "New" button to add a new account.
4. Choose Account Type: Select "Email Account" and click "Next."
5. Enter Information: Enter your name, email address, and any other required details for the news account.
6. Server Settings: Choose the server type as "NNTP (News)" and provide the server details (news server address).
7. Login Information: Enter the required login information for your news server.
8. Finish: Complete the setup process and test the account to ensure it is functioning correctly.
It's worth noting that Outlook's ability to handle news feeds has been removed in newer versions of Outlook. If you find that news feeds are no longer supported in your version of Outlook, you may need to use a separate news reader program to access news feeds.
If you encounter any specific errors or issues during this setup process, please let me know so I can provide more targeted assistance.
