Google has released Version 4.0.249.78 of the Chrome browser. This is a major release, adding support for extensions and bookmark sync along with performance improvements.

I have also noticed this. Enhanced text editing slows down any browser, as it requires more data processing. This may be one reason they haven't implemented it yet. Optional Enhanced text editing would be very good though.

Also, there is no default page zoom level with Chrome, and its tab management is not advanced enough, which feels a little inconvenient after using IE/FF/Opera.

Solution
I stay on top with dev builds, I'm not a developer, but I do like to submit bug reports to improve later version and enjoy the frequent new features.

The latest dev builds are trying to play catch up with IE 9.
