I have been having trouble getting UDH movies to play on my laptop.

I have a MSI GS70 Stealth Pro with the following specs:

Integrated Graphics Card:Intel HD Graphics 530 (Skylake-H GT2) - Integrated Graphics Controller [S0/R0] [MSI]
Processor: Intel Core i7-6700HQ Intel HM170 (Skylake PCH-H)
Dedicated Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M [MSI]
Memory: 16GB DDR4 SDRAM

Does my Laptop seem to have the specs to play UDH movies? I have tried VLC, MPC-HC x64, and CyberLink PowerDVD 18 with no luck. CyberLink PowerDVD 18 freezes and crashed after about 30 seconds, vlc and mpc-hc skip & stutter a lot.

Solution
Your laptop, MSI GS70 Stealth Pro, with specs including an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M dedicated graphics, and 16GB of DDR4 RAM should be capable of playing UHD (Ultra High Definition) movies smoothly. However, several factors can affect how well these movies play, including software settings, codecs, and overall system performance. Here are some steps you can take to ensure better playback of UHD movies on your laptop: 1. Update Software: - Ensure that your media players (VLC, MPC-HC, CyberLink PowerDVD) are up to date. Sometimes, updates include improvements for playing high-definition content. 2. Hardware Acceleration: - In your media players' settings, enable hardware acceleration if...

Sometimes, updates include improvements for playing high-definition content. 2. Hardware Acceleration: - In your media players' settings, enable hardware acceleration if available. This setting allows the graphics card to assist with decoding video, which can improve playback performance. 3. Video Codecs: - Install codec packs like K-Lite Codec Pack to ensure you have the necessary codecs for UHD content. 4. Power Settings: - Change power settings to High Performance to ensure your system is utilizing its full potential when playing UHD content. 5. Check GPU Usage: - Monitor your GPU usage while playing UHD content. If it's not being fully utilized, there may be a configuration issue. 6. Storage: - Ensure your UHD movies are stored on a fast and reliable storage drive to prevent any read/write issues. 7. System Optimization: - Close unnecessary background applications to free up system resources for video playback. - Ensure your system is free from malware and viruses that could affect performance. 8. GPU Driver: - Make sure your NVIDIA graphics drivers are up to date. Visit the NVIDIA website to download and install the latest drivers for your GPU. By optimizing these settings and ensuring your system is well-maintained, you should be able to play UHD movies smoothly on your laptop.
