Windows 10 HDD accessed while PC unused?

The HDD is active and every 2 or 3 seconds, it is being accessed.
What does Windows do in the background?

In theory anything running on your computer could have some component that reads or write to disk. You can download procexp and see what is generating disk activity.

This background activity actually also happens if no program is running and I am just seeing the desktop.
