I have build 7000 installed and cannot get it to share files with any of my other computers running Vista.

I can see both in the network tab but if I try to access it from my Vista machine it says" Logon failure: the user has

not been granted the requested logon type at this computer." The network map shows a dashed line between the

router and Win7 machine, and solid line between the router and Vista machine, I also have XP on a laptop I will be

sharing at a later date.

Solution
To address the issue with sharing files between your Windows 7 (Build 7000) system and your other computers running Vista, you can try the following solutions to resolve the "Logon failure" error and enable successful file sharing:

1. Enable Network Discovery and File Sharing:
- Go to the Network and Sharing Center in Windows 7.
- Ensure that Network Discovery and File Sharing are turned on.
- Click on Change advanced sharing settings and make sure that file and printer sharing are enabled.

2. Set Network Location:

3. Check User Account Permissions:
- Make sure that the user account you're using on each system has the necessary permissions to access shared files and folders.
- You may need to set up identical user accounts and passwords on all systems for easier sharing.

4. Disable Password-Protected Sharing:
- In the Advanced Sharing Options in Network and Sharing Center, turn off password-protected sharing as a test to see if it allows access without credentials.

5. Windows Credentials:
- Try adding a Windows credential to the Credential Manager for your Windows 7 machine to allow seamless access without login prompts.

6. Firewall Settings:
- Temporarily disable the firewall on both Windows 7 and Vista to check if it's blocking file sharing. If sharing works after disabling the firewall, adjust the firewall settings to allow file sharing.

7. Shared Folders Permissions:
- Check the permissions of the shared folders on both systems. Ensure that Everyone or specific users have the appropriate permissions for access.

8. HomeGroup Troubleshooter:
- Use the HomeGroup troubleshooter in Windows 7 to identify and fix common issues related to file sharing problems.

After implementing these steps, attempt to access shared files between your Windows 7 and Vista machines again. If you continue to encounter issues, consider checking network configurations, computer settings, and performing network diagnostics to troubleshoot further.
