The fix you found for getting HJSplit to work on Windows 7 by modifying the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) settings seems to be on point. Here's a breakdown of the steps you provided:

1. Click Start > Run (or press Windows Key + R)
2. Type “sysdm.cpl” in the run box without quotes.
3. Go to Advanced > Settings > Data Execution Prevention
4. By default, if it was set to "Turn on DEP for Essential Windows…"
5. If "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" was chosen, click Add and browse to the location of "HJSplit.exe."
6. Reboot the PC, and HJSplit should work properly after the changes.

Following these steps should help resolve the issue you were facing with HJSplit crashing on Windows 7. If you encounter any further issues or need additional assistance, feel free to ask!
