I want to remove (not hide) favorites so they don't come back. I have googled all morning trying to find a solution (besides spending a day in IE8 removing favorites one by one). I have found a couple references to editing the registry to make the name of the favorites links folder invisible (blank string). But this is for XP.

I don't mean remove the favorites Icon from the explorer window, or from IE8 interface. I mean, remove favorites so when I ope IE8, the favorites are empty, and never return.

Any help most tremendously appreciated....

Thanks,
Jim

Solution
Go to Start -> Search and type %HOMEPATH%\Favorites\

If you cannot access the folder, you may need to take ownership of it.

An explorer window will open with your favorites. Hit Ctrl-A to select all and hit delete. The favorites will be sent to the Recycle Bin.
