Windows Vista how to re install vista

hi i have windows 7 ultimate 32 bit but iam not really getting on with it very well i got a copy of vista ultimate 32 bit tried to re install but there was only an option to re install windows it said that upgrade has been disabled and i dont want to lose my programs and data any idears how to re install vista without loosing any of my data or programs

There's no way to upgrade (downgrade) From 7 to vista. Your only option is to save your data on an external hard drive, a networked drive or burn it to dvds.

yes but i have a illegal copy and its not on a dvd its on my pc
