A laptop screen displaying a calendar viewed through a magnifying glass.
Magnifier is a built-in accessibility tool in Windows 10 designed to enlarge parts of your screen, making text and images easier to see. When using the Calendar app, Magnifier can enhance readability and navigation. Here's how to effectively use Magnifier with Calendar:
Turning on Magnifier:
  • With a keyboard: Press the Windows logo key + Plus sign (+) to activate Magnifier. To turn it off, press the Windows logo key + Esc.
  • Using a mouse or touch: Go to Start > Settings > Ease of Access > Magnifier, and toggle it on.
Choosing the Best Magnifier View for Calendar:
Magnifier offers three views:
  • Full screen: Magnifies the entire screen. While you can't see the whole screen simultaneously, you can navigate to different parts as needed.
  • Lens: Acts like a moving magnifying glass that follows your cursor. This is useful for temporarily enlarging specific areas, such as the month picker in Calendar.
  • Docked: Displays a magnified portion in a separate area anchored to the screen's edge, keeping the main screen unchanged. This view is beneficial for reading long text lines or reviewing a week's schedule without obstructing the main calendar view.
Switching Between Magnifier Views:
Use these keyboard shortcuts to change views:
  • Full screen: Press Ctrl + Alt + F.
  • Lens: Press Ctrl + Alt + L.
  • Docked: Press Ctrl + Alt + D.
Navigating Calendar with Magnifier:
  • Navigation pane: Located on the left, it allows you to create events, access different calendars, and adjust settings. Use the Tab key, Shift + Tab, or the Up and Down arrow keys to move through options.
  • Calendar view: On the right, it displays days and events in various formats (day, week, month, year). Use the arrow keys to browse through days and events. The full screen view is particularly helpful for this.
Expanding or Collapsing the Navigation Pane:
To maximize space for the calendar view:
  • Using a mouse or touch: Click the Expand/Collapse button to adjust the navigation pane.
  • Using a keyboard: Press the Tab key until you reach the navigation button, then press Enter to expand or collapse.
By customizing Magnifier settings and views, you can enhance your experience with the Calendar app, ensuring better visibility and ease of use.
