Windows 7 Illustrator CS5 will not open

In Windows 7 Pro, Illustrator CS5 suddenly will not open. It gets as far as displaying the App window then freezes. I have tried deleting all third-party plugins. It shows up in Task Manager Under "Processes" but NOT "Applications". I can "End Process" here, as well as simply clicking on the frozen App window in Explorer.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. It seems to me I recall having to delete and reinstall all Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, but I can't remember why. (DUH!)

Is it a portable version?
Example: IllustratorCS5Portable.exe.

I don't know what that means, but no, it's part of a regular Adobe suite: Illustrator.exe

BTW: 12 GB RAM

I fixed it! I did, in fact, reinstall all 6 MS C++ Redistributables, re-started and Illy now opens fine. What a pain, but I'm glad I didn't have to try re-installing. (Thanks, APTGet.)
