Hi,

I'm have a very consistent problem when trying to install a few games I have. They are: Fallout 3, Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, and a few others.

Whenever I try to install, I always get this error: *This one is with fallout 3, the only difference in the errors is the game name and company*

Error Code: -5004 : 0x80070006
Error Information:
>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (3078)
PAPP:Fallout 3
PVENDOR:Bethesda Softworks (Fallout : Welcome to the Official Site)
PGUID:974c4b12-4d02-4879-85e0-61c95cc63e9e
$11.0.0.28844
@Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) IE 8.0.7100.0

I've looked all over the entire freakin' internet, and I CANNOT find a solution.

I've tried: Deleting the installshield runtime folder, and those inside it, they just keep re-creating themselves but slightly delay the error.
Edited the appropriate registries, still didn't work.
Running in compatibility with each item, still didn't run.
Running as administrator, and still nothing.
Checking for old registries, there are none for the games.
Manually going in and clicking "Setup.exe"
Nothing.

My specs are
OS - Windows 7 Ultimate x64 --- Build 7100
CPU -Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHZ
RAM - 4GB
Motherboard- NVIDIA Nforce 750 SLI

Please help, I'm completely lost here as to what else to try. :frown:

Even if you are running the installer as an administrator, double-check to confirm that you have the necessary permissions. 2. Run Installer in Compatibility Mode: - Right-click on the installer (Setup.exe) and select "Properties." - Go to the "Compatibility" tab and try running the installer in compatibility mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 2) or an earlier version that the game was designed for. 3. Disable User Account Control (UAC): - Temporarily disable UAC before running the installer. You can do this by going to Control Panel > User Accounts > Change User Account Control settings. Drag the slider to "Never notify." 4. Registry Cleanup: - Although you've mentioned editing registries, there might be specific registry entries causing conflicts. You can use a registry cleaner tool to thoroughly scan and remove any leftover entries related to the games. 5. Anti-Virus and Firewall: - Temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall software before attempting to install the games. Sometimes, security software can interfere with the installation process. 6. Check System Integrity: - Run a system file check to scan and repair any corrupted system files. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command: sfc /scannow. 7. Update Windows: - Ensure that your Windows 7 installation is up to date with the latest updates and service packs. Some compatibility issues can be resolved through system updates. 8. Install DirectX and Visual C++ Redistributable: - Install the latest versions of DirectX and Visual C++ Redistributable packages. Games often require these components to run correctly. After trying these steps, attempt to reinstall the games. If the issue persists, it might be helpful to provide more details or error messages that you encounter during the installation process for further assistance.
