I have Windows 10 20H2 with 8 GB ram. In apps I see Intel Optane memory. Is this just an entry in case I bought the module and can be uninstalled or can I not uninstall it?

Intel Optane Memory, when visible in your Windows settings, is typically installed as physical hardware, such as an Intel Optane module, to enhance system performance by acting as a cache drive. If Intel Optane Memory appears in your system settings and you do not physically have an Optane module installed on your system, it might be a remnant of a previous configuration or a generic entry that may not be applicable to your specific hardware setup. Here are a few things you can try in this scenario: 1. Check Windows Settings: - Review Intel Optane Memory in your system settings and try to determine if it is listed under "Apps" or "Storage." If it is listed as an app, it might be a software component related to Optane support...

If it is listed as an app, it might be a software component related to Optane support rather than the physical hardware. 2. Uninstall Apps: - If Intel Optane Memory is listed as an app, you can typically uninstall it through the standard Windows 10 process. Navigate to "Apps & Features" in Settings, search for Intel Optane Memory, and uninstall it if it appears in the list. 3. Device Manager: - Open Device Manager and check for an Intel Optane Memory device under "Disk drives" or "Storage controllers." If it appears here, you might have the physical hardware installed. 4. BIOS/UEFI Settings: - Restart your computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings. Check for any mention of Intel Optane Memory in the system configuration. If it's not present, there may not be any physical Optane module. 5. Third-Party Tools: - Utilize third-party system information tools like CPU-Z or speccy to gather more details about your hardware configuration, including Intel Optane Memory. 6. Intel Driver & Support Assistant: - Download and run the Intel Driver & Support Assistant, which can scan your system for Intel hardware components, including Optane Memory, and provide recommendations or updates related to this technology. If you are unsure about the presence or purpose of Intel Optane Memory on your system, performing these steps can help clarify whether it is a software application or a physical hardware component.
