I like having the Taskbar vertical on my laptop to maximize the screen space for documents.

I like the iTunes toolbar to advance songs or rate them.

In the vertical position, the iTunes toolbar switches to vertical also, but this makes it very long (about 1.5 inch). Is there someway to change its orientation? Or, are there alternate control bars that I can customize more?

Solution
To optimize your screen space and customize the vertical Taskbar on your laptop while using iTunes, you can explore a few options:

1. Adjusting iTunes Toolbar Orientation:

  • Unfortunately, iTunes does not natively support customization of the toolbar orientation.
  • However, you can try some workarounds to manage the vertical toolbar:
  • Resize the Toolbar: You may be able to resize the toolbar or hide certain buttons to make it more compact.
  • Customizable Toolbars: Some media players or plugins offer customizable toolbars where you can choose the buttons you want to see and their layout.

    • Consider using alternative media players that allow more customization:
[]Foobar2000: Highly customizable with various layout options and plugins. []MusicBee: Offers extensive customization options for the interface.
  • VLC Media Player: While primarily a video player, it also handles music and has some degree of customization.

3. Keyboard Shortcuts:

  • To reduce reliance on the toolbar, learn and use keyboard shortcuts for controlling playback and rating songs in iTunes.

    4. Third-Party Tools:

  • You may find third-party tools or plugins that enhance iTunes functionality or allow for better customization of the interface. Be cautious when downloading and installing third-party applications to ensure safety.

    5. Feedback to Apple:

  • Consider providing feedback to Apple regarding your preferences for toolbar customization. They may consider adding more customization options in future updates.

    6. General Tips for Vertical Taskbar:

    • Remember to adjust your display settings to accommodate the vertical Taskbar effectively.
    • Utilize Windows Snap feature for easy window management when using a vertical Taskbar.
By exploring these suggestions, you can potentially find a solution that fits your preferences for both the vertical Taskbar and the iTunes toolbar.
