Windows Vista Jumping cursor glitch

I bought a HP Pavillion dv2000 and am running windows vista on my laptop. I am experiencing all kinds of glitches where I can't controll the cursor. It will highlight things and jump all over the place. I dont know if there is an upgrade or something else I can do. It's a new computer, so I shouldn't imagine I have to defrag; I'ts been doing that since the day I got it. Does anyone have any advice, or had siilar problems?? Thanks!

Dates 1-9-07 through 1-25-07. Some people have tried reformatting, changing drivers for their mouse (PS/2 Wheel Mouse) -bad problem with that kind of mouse, HP had a suggestion.
