Windows 7 korean shows as square boxes

I recently installed Windows 7 onto my desktop because i got a new hard drive. I ran all the updates but I noticed that whenever i tried to type or read in korean, the characters would show up as boxes. I know this is a common issue but I can't seem to solve it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the language a few times but nothing changes.
