A few days ago I updated my vista home prem hard drive to the windows 7 ultim rc1 in german. but i cant use the libraries as, which is very sad for me as i considered them to be a very good new feature. clicking on one of the libraries simply displays an error message e.g.: "pictures.library-ms" can no longer be executed (ofc in german but thats the meaning) and the in smaller writing: the library can be deleted without hesitation, the folders it contains will not be affected. but i dont want to delete it i want to use it?

anyone same problem? anyone solution? thx in advance

Solution
It seems like you are facing an issue with using libraries in Windows 7 Ultimate RC1 in German after upgrading from Vista Home Premium. The error message you described indicates that the library file "pictures.library-ms" cannot be executed. To resolve this issue and start using libraries again, you can try the following steps:
  1. Rebuild Library:
    • Try rebuilding the affected library. This can sometimes fix library-related issues in Windows. Here's how you can do it:
      • Open Windows Explorer.
      • Right-click on the library that is causing the issue (for example, "Pictures").
      • Select "Properties" and go to the "Location" tab.
      • Click on the "Restore Default" button to set the default location.
      • Click "OK" and see...

    []Reset Library in Registry:
    • If the above method doesn't work, you can try resetting the library in the Windows Registry. Here's how:
      • Press Win + R, type "regedit" and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.
      • Navigate to the following key:
        Code:
         HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
      • Find the entry related to the problematic library (e.g., "pictures.library-ms").
      • Right-click on it and choose "Modify."
      • Set the Value data to point to the correct library location.
      • Close the Registry Editor and check if the library is working.

    ]Check File Permissions:
    • Ensure that your user account has appropriate permissions to access and use the libraries. You can check the permissions by right-clicking on the library folder, selecting "Properties," and going to the "Security" tab. If the issue persists after trying these solutions, you may consider performing a system restore to a point before the upgrade or reinstalling Windows 7 Ultimate RC1 to see if it resolves the problem. I hope these steps help you in resolving the library issue on your Windows 7 Ultimate RC1 system. Let me know if you need further assistance or if you encounter any other issues. Good luck!
