Windows 7 "Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP address - issue on brand new machine with Windows 7!

Hi,

I recently installed Windows 7 on a brand new computer. Everything is working fine except I cannot connect to the Internet! I have been getting the following message:

"Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP address

Thinking this was a Internet issue (as I'm using a brand new computer), I rang Virgin and they said it was an Ethernet Adapter issue.

The Network card I have is:

Realtek PCIE FE Family Controller

Could this be a conflict between Windows 7 and this network card?

Further details are computer (if this helps) are:

Pentium Dual-Core CPU E6600 @ 3.06 GHZ
ACPIx86 based PC

The Windows 7 is a 32bit OS

Any advice appreciated!

Have you checked Realtek for the latest drivers for your card or googled it. I bet you need latest drivers.
You could go into device manager and delete the card under network adapters and let Windows 7 look for the latest driver.
I am sure some one will come along that can point you to the site to get latest drivers

I do not know this maybe the driver you need
