Hey all!
I'm working on a computer atm. It boots just fine, but once it gets to the lock screen it will go to the sign-in, flash the theme color, then reset back to the lock screen. If i mash enter I can usually force it to sign in properly, but I suspect t the computer will be unusable if anyone adds a password. Ive run SFC and DISM, tried running startup repair, and at this point I suspect I just have to reinstall windows. Any ideas?

It sounds like you're encountering a frustrating issue with your computer getting stuck in a login loop at the lock screen. Before resorting to a full Windows reinstallation, here are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this problem: 1. Safe Mode: - Try booting into Safe Mode. Check User Profile: - Create a new user account and see if the problem persists with the new account. This can help determine if the issue is profile-specific. 4. Check Device Drivers: - Update or rollback your display drivers. Graphics driver issues can sometimes cause login problems. 5. Check Startup Programs: - Use Task Manager to check for any third-party applications that might be causing the login loop. Disable unnecessary startup programs and services. 6. System Restore: - If the issue started recently, consider doing a system restore to a point when the computer was working correctly. 7. Malware Scan: - Perform a thorough malware scan using Windows Defender or a reputable antivirus program to rule out malicious software causing the issue. 8. Reset PC: - As a last resort, you can try resetting your PC while keeping your files. This will reinstall Windows but preserve your personal data. If none of these steps resolve the login loop issue, a Windows reinstallation may indeed be necessary. Remember to back up your important files before proceeding with any major system changes. It's always a good practice to create regular system backups to avoid data loss in situations like this.
