Are you talking about the built in mic of the laptop? If so go to HP's website and download the the OS 7 driver 32/64 bit version. I would give you a link but need the specfic model and bit version you have.

Sometimes when we upgrade from one OS to another something gets corrupted with in the upgrade. It just happens and you happen to be one of the unlucky ones to experience this.
