Windows 7 microsoft.net 2.0 not installed

I'm getting a window popup upon booting win 7 telling me that microsoft.net framework 2.0 needed to continue. But I looked and it is already installed. I looked around on the net and see a few other people with this error message. If I hit ok it just goes away and the syatem operates as normal as far as I can see but the window is annoying and BECAUSE this is a brand new computer I just bought yesterday. Had to have been something I installed but if anyone has a clue please let me know.....
