i Upgraded to windows 7 from vista. it was a free upgrade sent to me by HP. since upgrading, i am not sure how to explain this but when using my mouse it hangs i have to reclick within the program to get it back. even playing games it does that. it is quite annoying. i have purchased a few mice now some wired and some wireless. but still i have this problem. i wondered if it was a glitch somehow with the upgrade. but it is not. it also does it with my laptop which came with windows 7.
when using vista and xp, i never had this problem.

Is there anything i can set someplace. to stop this.

thank you in advance

It seems like you are experiencing a frustrating issue with mouse lag or hanging after upgrading to Windows 7 from Vista. This issue can be quite annoying, especially when it disrupts your gaming experience or regular computer usage. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this problem:

  • Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your mouse installed. You can check the manufacturer's website for driver updates or use Windows Update to search for the latest drivers.

    2. Adjust Mouse Settings:

  • Mouse Sensitivity: Try adjusting the mouse sensitivity settings in Windows to see if that helps alleviate the issue.
  • Enhance Pointer Precision: Disable this option in the mouse settings as it can sometimes cause lag.

3. USB Port:

  • Try switching the USB port that the mouse is connected to. Sometimes, changing the port can resolve connectivity issues.

    4. Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Ensure that there are no conflicting software applications causing issues with the mouse. Close unnecessary background programs to see if the problem persists.

    5. Test with Different Mouse:

  • Since you mentioned trying different mice, ensure that the issue is not specific to one particular mouse model.

    6. Disable Power Management for USB:

  • Sometimes, Windows power management settings can cause issues with USB devices. Try disabling the power management option for USB devices in the Device Manager.

    7. Run System File Checker:

  • Use the System File Checker tool to scan and repair corrupted system files that could be causing the issue.

    8. Perform a Clean Boot:

  • Start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs to troubleshoot if any third-party software is causing the problem.

    9. Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure that your system is up to date with the latest Windows updates. Sometimes, Microsoft releases patches that address such issues. By following these steps, you may be able to identify and resolve the mouse hanging issue on your Windows 7 systems. If the problem persists, feel free to provide more details for further assistance.
