Hi,

When I go to my music library (the new feature in windows 7) there's an option on the top right to "arrange by". If i select arrange by album, all my music shows up as unspecified even though it has been tagged properly. Can somebody help me out?

It seems like you're facing an issue with sorting your music library in Windows 7 where the music appears as "unspecified" even though it has been tagged properly. This can be a frustrating problem, but there are a few steps you can take to try and resolve it:

Ensure Correct Tagging:

  1. Check Tags: Make sure that your music files have the correct tag information for the album field. Use a music management software to verify the tags.

    Clear and Rebuild the Index:

  2. Rebuild the Index: Windows uses an index to quickly access and display files. Rebuilding this index can sometimes correct sorting issues.
    • Go to Control Panel -> Indexing Options -> Advanced -> Rebuild.

      Update Media Player Library:

[]Update Media Player: If you are using Windows Media Player for your music library, update the library by following these steps:
    • Open Windows Media Player.
    • Go to Organize -> Manage libraries -> Music.
    • Remove and then re-add your music library to force a re-scan.

      Use Third-Party Software:

    [
]Third-Party Tools: Consider using third-party music library management software like MusicBee, MediaMonkey, or iTunes to organize and manage your music collection.

    Additional Steps:

[]Folder Structure: Ensure that your music files are organized correctly within your music folder structure. []File Permissions: Check if there are any permission issues preventing the correct display of file information. Try these steps and see if they help resolve the issue with your music library sorting in Windows 7. Let me know if you need further assistance!
