Windows 7 New computer won't see or dectect year old external hard drive

I recently bought a new HP laptop with Windows 7 and went to plug in my ComStar external hard drive and nothing showed up. It still works on my old laptop with windows vista. I check device manager, my computer, and drive manager and it doesn't seem to be seen at all. The hard drive is a usb plug with a wall plug power source. Any suggestions?

In Device Manager, try uninstalling your USB Ports and Hubs and let them be re-detected and installed.
