New Windows Phone 8 Devices Announced by Nokia, Samsung

On September 5th 2012, Nokia announced two new entries to the smartphone market, being powered of course by the not-yet-released Windows Phone 8. The two devices are namely the Lumia 820 and 920, successors to their 8 and 900 counterparts.

Following much speculation about the devices, the 820 was announced as a mid-range device sporting a 4.3" AMOLED ClearBlack screen with the standard 480*800 resolution, LTE, a dual-core 1.5 GHZ Snapdragon S4 processor, 8 GB of onboard storage with support for a 32 GB memory card. The 820 is available in 7 colours, which can be changed by swapping the shell of the phone with another. Nokia Lumia 820 Specifications - Nokia

The Lumia 920, on the other hand, is a higher end device. There was some speculation that the PureView technology found in the PureView 808 device may make it's way to Windows Phone with these devices. Nokia delivered on those rumours, and while the Lumia 920 doesn't have a 41-MP sensor like it's big brother, it does deliver an 8.7 MP camera with PureView technologies such as OIS (optical image stabilization), true 16:9 and a BSI sensor. These features are (sort of) demoed in the video below. The 920 features a strangely sized 4.5" 1280*768 resolution PureMotion HD+ screen, delivering an amazingly responsive and bright experience - so you can "use your screen even in the dessert". Strangely enough their is no microSD slot in this device. Check out the OIS below:

Meanwhile, a week earlier Samsung announced their new line of Windows devices - ATIV. The WP8 counterpart is the ATIV S, which no surprise is similar to the GS3, much like the Focus S/GS2.

The ATIV S features a 4.8" Super-AMOLED display, along with a 1.5 GHZ dual core processor, 16 or 32 GB models with microSD support, a 2300-mAh battery, an 8 MP rear AF camera and a 1.9 MP VT FFC.

HTC also announced their newest flagship entries into the Windows Phone 8 market.. Namely the HTC 8x and the 8s (these names seem to he strangely similar to certain Android counterparts).
The 8x is considered to be HTCs Windows 8 "high end" device. It's decked out with a 1.5 GHz dual-core S4 processor, 16 GB of (again) non-expandable storage, a 4.3" Super LCD2 display with a 720*1280, 342 ppi resolution. It's also equipped with an 8 mp BSI rear camera, and an 88 degrees wild angle 1080p front facing camera. The degice also comes with Beats audio. It will be available in several colours, including red, lime yellow, black and blue.

The smaller 8s, is aimed more at casual users. It also sports Beats audio, but only comes equipped with 8 GB of expandable storage and a 1 GHz dual core processor. Its available in four different colours, with a custom accent grazing the bottoms capacitive buttons.

Both phones features HTCs image chip processor found in the HTC One X which delivers a seamless camera experience allowing the user to snap photos extremely fast with little lag between shots. More information coming soon!
