Windows 8 No speakers or headphones plugged in - win8

Hi friends,

I am using Windows 8.

I am facing an issue with my sound all on a sudden. The volume icon on the task bar has a red cross on it. When I hover on that it says 'No speakers or headphones plugged in' (attachment-1).

When I click on the icon I get a screen like attachment-2 which says 'The peripheral does not appear to be plugged in'.

I checked in the Device Manager to see only 'Bluetooth Headset' listed under 'Sound, video and game controllers'. Also I tried to re-install audio drivers (Real Tech High Definition Audio Driver) which is provided with the laptop to no avail. I don't know whether this is just a driver/windows problem or a hardware problem.

Please throw some hints on this.

Thanks

Looks like the driver for your sound hardware is missing, may be part of the motherboard or a PCI card. Go to manufacture's site and find the driver install.

It looks like you are setup for wireless audio using Bluetooth.
Can you find your computer specs and see what your audio hardware is?

That would help you find the correct drivers for it.

Windows should be able to do this on it's own, the fact that it didn't and that this problem started out of nowhere may mean that the hardware has failed in some way.
