Windows 10 None of my games use Fullscreen Optimizations

For anyone that doesn't know Windows 10 should automatically run fullscreen games in a borderless windowed mode for faster ALT+TABing which they call Fullscreen Optimizations, but for some reason I've noticed that Windows has stopped running any of my games in this mode. I've tried Googling a solution but the only posts I can find are from people that hate this feature and want to disable it, but I would like the convenience of being able to ALT+TAB without my games crashing. Anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks.

To troubleshoot the issue with Fullscreen Optimizations not working in Windows 10, you can try the following solutions:

1. Update GPU Drivers:
- Ensure your graphics card drivers are up to date. Visit the manufacturer's website for the latest drivers and install them.

2. Compatibility Mode:
- Right-click on the game's executable file.
- Go to "Properties" > "Compatibility" tab.
- Check "Disable fullscreen optimizations" and click "Apply".

3. Windows Settings:
- Go to "Settings" > "Gaming".
- Check under "Game bar", "Captures", and "Game Mode" settings to ensure they are not interfering with fullscreen optimizations.

4. Edit Registry (Advanced Step):
- Press Win + R, type regedit, and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.
- Navigate to:
- Look for a DWORD value called "AllowAutoGameMode" and set it to 1.
- Create this value if it doesn't exist.
- Restart your computer after making this change.

5. Check Game Settings:
- Some games have specific settings for fullscreen optimizations. Check the in-game settings or options related to display modes.

6. Windows Updates:
- Ensure Windows is up to date by checking for and installing any pending updates.

7. Third-Party Software:
- Check for any third-party applications that might be interfering with fullscreen optimizations and temporarily disable them for testing.

8. Additional Troubleshooting:
- Run the game as an administrator.
- Disable any overlay software such as Discord or GeForce Experience.
- Check your display settings and ensure they are configured correctly.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot the issue with Fullscreen Optimizations not working in Windows 10 for your games.
