I was reading a topic at another website where the poster had been doing ping tests. What has me curious is the fact that their pings in Safe Mode were faster that those run normally. Can someone here tell why this would be?

Solution
Also more specifically to add to what Pat said, it's possible that in safe mode many antivirus or firewall protection programs are not active, therefore reducing the load on the network stack entirely as it's not being hooked into by such programs. If I were to see my ping times be adversely be effected by my security suite by even as much as 5ms I would be concerned that the suite in question is bloatware ;)
Presumably because safe mode runs a minimal set of drivers and apps so there are less overheads using resources?
