The Platform Update for Windows 7 enables improved features and performance on Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. It includes updates to the following DirectX components: Direct2D, DirectWrite, Direct3D, Windows Imaging Component (WIC), and Windows Advanced Rasterization Platform (WARP). In addition, there are updates to the Windows Animation Manager (WAM) , XPS Document API and the H.264 Video Decoder

Update Tuesday (Tomorrow 26th Feb 2013) see's Microsoft releasing platform updates for Win 7, 8 and RT. It is thought that the final version of IE10 will be released for Windows 7.
You can download a pre release version, detailed above, now.

It is important to note that the pre-release version is from November 2012 and will likely be drastically improved by the time of the official release on February 26th, 2013. As is the case, most users without a solid backup plan and need for production-level use of Windows 7, Windows Server, and Windows 8 will want to avoid the pre-release in production environments, especially with the timeline for a final release moving in so fast. As always, pre-release software is available "as-is" with no guarantee. This type of software bundle is generally released to the mass public for stability testing before the final, gold release, and may not be suitable for all computer users.

The important part of this notice is that the final version will very likely be available on February 26th, and thus, many Windows customers will likely want to bypass the pre-release version entirely to avoid untimely difficulties if you can hold out just one more day. Thanks, once again, to kemical, for providing the above, aforementioned info.

Best regards,
