Is there a way for me to change my sound settings to a preset setting by just pressing a button. For example, I like to play music through my microphone, and I do this by listening to my microphone than disabling it. But to actually use my microphone I would have to disable these changes manually and it is rather time consuming. Is there anyway within windows to assign a button to change between the two settings, or is there any program which can do this.

To simplify the process of switching between different sound settings on Windows, including toggling your microphone for music playback and regular voice usage, you can utilize a feature called "Sound Profiles" or third-party software that allows for quick switching between preset audio configurations. Here are two methods you can consider:

Method 1: Using Sound Profiles (Windows 10 and Windows 11)

Windows itself doesn't offer a built-in feature to assign a button that can directly switch between different sound settings. However, you can create different sound profiles using the built-in sound settings:
  1. Set Up Sound Profiles:
    • Right-click on the sound icon in the system tray and select "Open Sound settings."
    • Scroll down and under the "Advanced sound options," go to "App volume and device preferences."
    • Set the desired input/output devices for each application or system sound.
    []Switching Between Profiles:
    • Unfortunately, Windows doesn't offer a direct way to switch sound profiles with a single button press. You would need to manually adjust the settings.

      Method 2: Using Third-Party Software

There are third-party tools that can help you manage sound settings efficiently by creating profiles and assigning hotkeys to switch between them. One such tool that you can explore is Audio Switcher which allows you to change audio devices or sound settings using hotkeys. Here are the steps for using Audio Switcher (or a similar tool):
    [
    ]Download and Install Audio Switcher:
    • Download and install Audio Switcher from a reputable source.
    • Follow the installation instructions.
    []Create Sound Profiles:
    • Open the Audio Switcher application.
    • Create different sound profiles for your desired settings (e.g., one for microphone music playback and another for regular voice usage).
    [
    ]Assign Hotkeys:
    • Configure hotkeys for each sound profile.
    • This will allow you to switch between profiles quickly with a key combination. Using a third-party tool like Audio Switcher can provide the functionality you are looking for by enabling quick switching between different sound settings through hotkeys or shortcuts. By following these methods, you can streamline the process of switching between the sound settings that you frequently use without the need for manual adjustments each time.

To assign a button to switch between custom audio settings, such as toggling microphone input and output, with a single key press or shortcut, you can utilize the SoundSwitch utility. This free Windows utility allows you to change the default audio output device using a simple keyboard shortcut. Additionally, you can explore other utilities that enable creating custom keyboard shortcuts in Windows to control system volume and switch between audio output devices. If you prefer to use the Windows Settings app, you can navigate to the audio settings and adjust the audio output device from there. However, this method does not provide a single-key shortcut. Information is missing on how to toggle microphone input with a single key press or shortcut using built-in Windows settings.
