Ram not on motherboard list

Hi Guys n Gals,

I currently have 16gb of this ram, CMR16GX4M2C3466C16 VENGEANCE® RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3466MHz C16 Memory Kit , in my Gigabyte Aorus gaming 3 motherboard and i'm looking at adding another 16gb more.

The problem is because its now "old" its more expensive to buy 16gb of the same ram i currently have than buying 32gb of ram that's not on my motherboards supported ram list , contacted gigabyte and they said they haven't checked the newer ram as corsair brings out so much ram.

The 2 sets of ram i'm looking at are :

CMW32GX4M4D3600C18 VENGEANCE® RGB PRO 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3600MHz C18 Memory Kit — Black

and

CMW32GX4M2C3200C16 VENGEANCE® RGB PRO 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 Memory Kit — Black

Now i'll admit i still don't understand ram timings so am unable to think for myself which of the 2 sets would be better, it's something thats never really clicked with me, so i'm looking for pros and cons of the two ram sets.

Ideally i'd like the first set of the 2 for faster rated speed plus 4 rgbs sticks instead of two :)

all help appreciated.

In any case the RAM will downclock. If your board doesn't support 3600MHz it will downclock to 3466MHz and if you add 3200MHz RAM all of the RAM will downclock to 3200MHz.

I think they're just replacing the ram and either of those sets will be fine.
