Similar to the latest Realtek Semiconductor Hi-Definition Audio Codec update, Realtek has also come out with newer network interface card (NIC) drivers for your Realtek-compatible LAN cards. These cards are often built-in on Gigabyte and Asus motherboards, so check Device Manager and your system specs before upgrade.

The driver was issued 2012/5/22 for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. There is a noticeable performance improvement between these drivers, and the Microsoft compatibility drivers from 2009.

Typically, unified drivers are released to add support for new hardware, while also patching issues for existing devices. The drivers require a manual update using Device Manager as explained in the YouTube video above. Good luck with this upgrade!
