Windows 7 recycle bin problems

Hello,
When I double click the recycle bin, it is opened by Windows Media Centre. There I cannot get a proper list and delete folders or empty it. Why can I not open it with Windows explorer, like anything else and then just delete things?
Please advise.

have you tried resetting the recycle bin?
Fix: Recycle Bin is corrupted in Windows 10 / 8 / 7
