Windows 7 remove AVG secure search page

There is a new option in IE that may apply to Firefox, rather than you having an 'infection'.

I don’t use Firefox but the setting in IE is in Internet Options > General Tab > Tabs and the field ‘When a new Tab is opened’ can be changed.

It's not a virus - avg has set one of the firefox options - you can change it yourself:

1. Type in about:config, in the firefox address bar

2. Click OK on the warning message.

3. Scroll down to the entry: browser.newtab.url

4. double click on the entry and edit to whatever page you want your default new tab to open to. If you want it blank the enter:

about:blank

You have to be careful what you download these days...they sneak that in with a lot of stuff. They discretely hide it with a small box that is all ready checked...when you go to accept/agree/use what ever download one is trying to download. Hell, it even got me once...just once....lesson learned the hard way.
