i am suffering a similar event it starts with media player opening on its own and a warning message comes on stating that the media player library has become corrupt then i get a sudden bright flash on the screen and then the BSOD the computer locks up but not the mouse and i have to do a forced reboot this has happened about 12 times in 5 days everything in the computer is brand new only a week old any suggestions?

You advised me to send in the dmp files but i looked in the minidump folder and it is completely empty

my system consists of :-

motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD7-B3
Graphics 2 of Geforce GTX580
PSU Corsair AX1200
Processor Intel Core i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40 Ghz 3.70 Ghz
Sound Xonar D2X
Monitor 3 of Benq XL2410T
Drives..
1 of 120 GB SSD for operating system
1 of 420 GB hi speed for gaming
2 of 3 TB for storage
Keyboard Logitech G19
Mouse Logitech G9X

not sure if any of this will help also nothing is overclocked and the cpu and memory monitor never spikes or goes above 20%

Hi Grufty,

sounds like you need to configure your system to actually produce the dump file. Check my screenshot which shows the right settings:

Hi
Thanks for a quick reply i checked the status of the dump and everything was the same except for the small memory dump was set to kernel memory dump, can you confirm i looked in the right place for the actual dump file (if any was created) i went to c:\windows\minidump

Yup, just change your settings to look like mine.. :)

ok i have done it i will check for a dump file next time it crashes and post what i find in there thanx again

Just post to this thread as I can read it for you. :)

It has just happened again but a different message this time on the bsod it says

Stop c000021a (fatal system error) windows subsystem system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000006 (0x7793523b 0x0283e3c0)

and nothing in the minidump

Any ideas please would be helpful

Thought i had better mention the computer had been running for about 6 hours completely trouble free before this happened even though when i reboot the computer or even when i start from cold the task bar always takes a long time to initialise even though the desktop is up and running

Hmm... weird. Grufty are you running any anti virus/malware apps? Plus what does the Event viewer say?

I am using AVG fully paid up version Antivirus and internet security fully updated
The event log just stated event id 41 task category 63 kernel power for the last event as you say wierd considering it came up with a completely different message at the bsod
below are the details from event viewer for the last event

AVG is a known cause of BSOD's on some systems. My suggestion would be to remove it to test and replace with Microsoft Security essentials. If the problem is gone you know the cause, if not you can always re-install AVG.

Solution
As suggested by the post above I'd try a different virus catcher. I use MSE alongside malwarebytes. This catches anything which could be missed by MSE.
