Solution
When you change the settings for/in windows it's set that way for everything. I would use the software/program that you're using to change the mic settings...in this case Skype. Open Skype and go to settings and set the mic value to your desired liking. I have mine for skype set at auto adjust for both mic and speaker/headset.
