Hi
I upgraded from vista to win7 and it finished the install perfectly but when it restarted to do the settings it said it couldn't and it was going to rollback all changes but instead it just kept rebooting in a loop.. So now I've got all the backup files named "backup files 1.zip" to "backup files 571.zip" which contain all the data from the vista install in 200mb files and i cant unzip 1 and they all get unzipped and any file bigger than 200mb is shared over a few zips and can't be put back together because it just overwrites the previous 1...

It seems like you are facing a complex issue with your Windows 7 upgrade and the backup files from your previous Vista install. Let's break down the problem and see how we can assist you: 1. Windows 7 Upgrade Issue: Your Windows 7 upgrade seems to have failed during the settings phase, leading to a continuous loop of reboots. This can be challenging to resolve, but we can start by attempting to repair or reinstall Windows 7 properly. 2. Backup Files Issue: The backup files named "backup files 1.zip" to "backup files 571.zip" containing data from your Vista install are in 200MB zip files. However, you mentioned that larger files split across multiple zips are causing problems when trying to unzip and restore the data. Here are some steps we can consider to address these issues: - Windows 7 Upgrade Loop: - Try booting into Safe Mode to troubleshoot the failed settings issue. - If possible, access advanced startup options to repair Windows or perform a clean installation. - If necessary, consider seeking professional assistance for advanced troubleshooting. - Handling Backup Files: - Since your files are split into multiple 200MB zip files, you may need to carefully unzip and reassemble them manually. - There are tools available that can help merge split files back together. You can try using file splitting and merging tools like HJ-Split or similar software. Before proceeding further, could you provide more details on the specific error messages you encounter during the Windows 7 upgrade process? Additionally, if you have any specific concerns or questions regarding the backup files, please let me know so we can assist you more effectively.
