Windows 7 resuming from sleep

terminaldawn

New Member
Hello all,

I have been trying to troubleshoot this issue and can't seem to figure it out. I am not well versed in troubleshooting BSOD errors as I have been extremely lucky in that I have never had them since using win 98 :)

Basically what happens is every time I resume from a sleep (hybrid of regular) I get the BSOD.

I have updated all of my drivers. The only driver that is slightly old is my ATI catalyst drivers but this is due to fear of causing bigger issues with my HTPC.

I should also mention that the earlier crashes in the dump (1/22) were not from resuming from sleep. I included them anyways just in case they would tell more of the story.

Any help in tracking this down will be appreciated greatly!!! THANKS!!!

I have attached all requested information.

KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (7a)
The requested page of kernel data could not be read in. Typically caused by
a bad block in the paging file or disk controller error. Also see
KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR.
If the error status is 0xC000000E, 0xC000009C, 0xC000009D or 0xC0000185,
it means the disk subsystem has experienced a failure.
If the error status is 0xC000009A, then it means the request failed because
a filesystem failed to make forward progress.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000020, lock type that was held (value 1,2,3, or PTE address)
Arg2: ffffffffc000009d, error status (normally i/o status code)
Arg3: fffffa8005aeb078, current process (virtual address for lock type 3, or PTE)
Arg4: 0000000000000000, virtual address that could not be in-paged (or PTE contents if arg1 is a PTE address)

WOW!! Awesome! Thanks for your reply with all the things to try!!

I do not have an external HDD.

I have included the SPD and HDD report.

Also I am including the report from Intel Download Site. It didnt detect any driver updates needed. Should I still download Intel® ME: Management Engine Driver for Intel 5 Series Chipset-Based Desktop Boards?

I will remove daemon tools. Is Virtual Clone Drive OK to use? I need a way to mount ISO files. :)

Thanks again!!

Some alternatives to DT/Alcohol that do not use SPTD.SYS (In no order) if all you want is a virtual drive for iso files. And they're all small programs, especially DVDFab.

MagicDisc
Link Removed - Invalid URL (The program is a trial but the drive emulation is free forever).

Unfortunately updating the driver and uninstalling daemon tools didnt resolve the issue.

Unfortunately you did neither, these drivers are from 020211-17191-01.zip:

CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION (f4)
A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been
terminated.
Probably caused by : wininit.exe <--- Windows Start-Up Application

The system might be corrupted or seriously misconfigured. Reinstall your system, if there's a hardware bug it won't take long and it'll pop up soon after the reinstall. Let's take it from there on.

Run Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool 10 passes overnight.

That is weird. The Management Engine is showing in the Control Panel as installed. Also Daemon Tools is not showing in the Control Panel.

Why would the drivers not get updated if I installed / uninstalled these components?

I ran the built in Win 7 memory test when I built the system a couple months ago and it didn't come up with any errors. However I am running MEMTest as I type this, so far no errors.

Is it worth updating the Firmware on my MOBO to see if this resolves the issue?

I would have done this already however firmware updates make me nervous, especially on a Mother Board.

Thanks again for your help!!!!

To update a driver means to install a new version of it. http://www.intel.com/support/detect.htm
Daemon Tools -- uninstall with the use of the duplex tool. http://www.duplexsecure.com/faq

I removed daemon tools via the site you provided. Then I re-installed the Management Engine Drivers. This didn’t fix the issue.

I then upgraded the firmware of my MOBO, this also didn’t fix the issue.

I tried to revert back to a base image I created via the backup and restore feature in Win 7 and for some reason my MOBO refused to POST. I couldn’t even get into the BIOS, at all.

I cleared the CMOS, and was able to get into the BIOS. I reverted to default options and I was prompted for the SATA Mode. I was previously running in AHCI so I chose that. Once again my BIOS wouldn’t POST.

I cleared the CMOS again and just stuck with the defaults (IDE Mode) and reinstalled Win 7 Pro 64 bit, updated to the latest drivers for my motherboard and video card. And my computer resumes from a sleep with no issue.

I am happy that everything is working now, however I am concerned that my MOBO doesn’t POST when in AHCI mode. Should I be concerned with this?

I suspect the AHCI mode was causing my issue all along, however time will tell once I start adding some of my software back, however all my drivers are installed... ???

I am happy that everything is working now, however I am concerned that my MOBO doesn’t POST when in AHCI mode. Should I be concerned with this?

That you have AHCI mode option in the bios means your motherboard has the AHCI controller. If the hard drive is old enough it may be AHCI incompatible. But if the hard drive is AHCI compatible, then at least your PC should be able to POST in AHCI mode.

Hmm.... maybe my HDD has some issues dealing with AHCI... My gut tells me that this was the issue all along as I had a pretty mild and standard build due to my PC just being for HTPC use I really didnt have that much junk on there.

Once I get the final touches on my PC (hopefully tonight) I will post to update the status.

Thanks for your help!!!
