Hello all,

I am trying to reset my Windows 7 password using the command prompt function.

I restart my computer
Press F8
On the Advanced Boot Options Screen -- Select Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Loading Windows Files screen appears, and scrolls through filenames.
Then - the Login window appears! No command prompt!

Please advise - how can I get to the command prompt screen??

Thanks!
Nancy

A misinterpretation.
Safe mode with Command prompt means you can use command prompt in safe mode. You still need to open the command prompt manually.
Here is how :
Login > click Start button > in the search box, type cmd > Do NOT press Enter key yet > top left, right click at cmd.exe > select Run As Administrator > click Yes to confirm > now the black and white command prompt will appear.......

Hello,
Thanks for your help!

The problem is:
I can't remember my password to login to the computer! So I can't get to the Start Menu
I don't have a reset disk

Solutions on help forums suggest using Safe Mode with Command Prompt, but I cannot access it!

Here's what's happening when I try to get to Safe Mode command prompt:
1. Reboot the computer while pressing F8.
2. Advanced Boot Options Screen -- Select Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Loading Windows Files screen appears, and scrolls through filenames.
*The Login window appears! No command prompt!

Help!
Thanks!

I am sorry.
It is my personal conviction that prohibits me from helping others who claim to have forgotten the password.
The sensitive issue is....... am I helping others to circumvent password protection or am I helping others who genuinely have forgotten their passwords.
The answer is ...... I don't know that for certainty.
Therefore I opt not to assist on this particular subject matter. That is my own self-imposed rule.
MY apology.
