I have a Lenovo G530. Win 7 runs great on it, but there is no provision in the POWER SETTINGS to dim the display while on batteries. The dimming buttons on the keyboard don't work either.

I downloaded and installed all the Lenovo drivers (display, chipset, etc).

Am I missing a driver? If so, which one?

Solution
It seems like you're experiencing an issue with the display dimming function on your Lenovo G530 when running on battery power in Windows 7. Since you have already installed all the Lenovo drivers, including display and chipset drivers, and are still facing the problem, it's worth exploring other possible solutions. Here are a few additional steps you can take to address the display dimming issue: 1. Update Power Management Software: - Make sure that the power management software on your Lenovo G530 is up to date. Sometimes, the power settings are controlled via proprietary power management software rather than through Windows default settings. 2. BIOS Update: - Check if there is a BIOS update available for your Lenovo G530...

BIOS Update: - Check if there is a BIOS update available for your Lenovo G530. Updating the BIOS can sometimes resolve power-related issues. 3. Control Panel Settings: - Sometimes, display brightness settings can be adjusted from the Control Panel. Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options and check if there are any settings related to display brightness that can be adjusted. 4. Check Keyboard Shortcut Functions: - Ensure that the keyboard shortcuts for display brightness are correctly configured. Some laptops have specific key combinations to adjust screen brightness. Check the user manual for your Lenovo G530 to confirm the correct key combinations. 5. Third-Party Tools: - Consider using third-party software tools that can help control display brightness. Tools like "f.lux" or "Dimmer" can provide additional control over display brightness. If after trying these steps, the issue persists, it's possible that there may be a compatibility issue with Windows 7 on your specific hardware configuration. In such cases, you may need to consider upgrading to a newer version of Windows that is fully supported on your Lenovo G530. If you'd like further assistance or have any specific details to provide, feel free to share them for more tailored guidance.
