I"m not sure if this is a "support" thing or a discussion thing, but:

Toshiba Qosmio X505 laptop. Couple weeks old. Has Windows 7 Home on it. Today, I left it, came back a couple hours and it had crashed. I checked the event log and found:

WHAT IS SIDEBYSIDE? And what's it doing?

It could be a feature of "Snap". You might try disabling it and see if your problem goes away.

It appears that these issues are a manifestation of an incorrectly configured application making a call to a 64 bit dll, when it actually needs a 32 bit dll. At least the text of these error messages is largerly similar to that discussed in SideBySide Event ID 35 is logged in the Application log when you start Windows Live Movie Maker on a 64-bit Windows operating system with respect to moviemaker.exe.

Microsoft appears to regard these error messages as non-issues, since, evidently, the appropriate DLL gets loaded in the end. But, as I have seen many of these similar error messages listed under a variety of applicatons, and on every Win 7 box I own, it would be nice if Microsoft patched their loader so that it doesn't generate error level events for what is considers non-issues.

SideBySide Issues

I have this issue, but to a lesser degree - i.e., my system isn't crashing, but I am seeing Errors in my Event Log (Applications).

I was seeing Errors for moviemaker (#35), LogMeIn (#80), and Search Enhancements (#59). All Errors occurred at the same time each day: 12:30AM, within seconds of each other.

Since I don't use moviemaker, I uninstalled it from Live Essentials and that error went away.

Of course, the LogMeIn Errors are still there. I suspect it has to do with the LogMeIn ToolKit.exe file, which is part of their Pro2 version. When the free thirty day trial expires, I expect that to go away as well.

I read elsewhere that other functions of Live Essentials were to blame for the Search Enhancements SideBySide Errors, so I uninstalled everything else I could find within Live Essentials. That didn't work so well: I still see the #59 Errors. Four of them each day, in fact.

So can anyone advise me on what might be happening and how to fix it? Although my Windows 7 64-bit machine is working well and has never crashed (knock on wood), I really hate Errors in the Event Log.

Isn't SidebySide an IE add-on or enhancement? I think I removed it or disabled it once.

I usually uninstall Adobe Air also, but the OP might need it for something.

I also try not to run anything related to Windows Live.
