Don't ya jus love it, when something that's worked for over a decade, all of a sudden doesn't work anymore.
Makes ya wonder, why they ever changed it in the first place. Eh?

I wonder if Dir /s/a filename.ext still works, from the command prompt?
Try it, and see if it works to find those missing files. The /a means show ALL files, even hidden ones.

I'm not in W-7 right now, so I can't test it out there.

YUP!, , Still works in XP-Pro-SP3

Cheers Mate!

Yeah, I never had any complaints about search in Windows XP.
I could just type in the file I was looking for and search the whole computer and it would find it every time.

I was hoping that the search function was something that they would fix in Service Pack 1, and it may be a little better.
It doesn't seem like I've had as bad results as I did before that, but I'm not sure.

Today when I looked for Imageres.dll it found all of them on my computer and I don't think it did the last time I tried that.

It may just be conceptual, but it seems like the further that MS tries to get away from DOS, the more I find myself using it.
And, LO and Behold, it still works!

I do lots of things in W7 with batch files and I still back up W7 from a DOS boot disk.

DOS Rocks!

I'd be working this forum from a DOS prompt if I could. lol

Cheers Mate!
