sound playback slower then video and as it gets closer to end of the film it gets even slower.
Imagine watching a 1.:30 mins movie.
it begins OK and i notice that gradually sound starts to play slower then video so in the middle of film characters open mouth, say a word then close the mouth and only after that i hear what they say.
Sound delays with every single avi file.
Sound card is X-FI creative with latest driver.
Fresh windows installation with nothing installed but the driver
No video codecs installed (i instaled them later to se if it helps but it doesnt)
i had this problems with earlier W7 RTM releases and with official W7 release as well

Can someone help me to understand what is going on ?
Sound card is not slow, its an ASIO card for music developers. Fast and very powerfull. I payed almost $200.00 last year and it has Windows 7 driver

Solution
It sounds like you are experiencing a synchronization issue between the video playback and the sound on your system. This can be quite frustrating, especially when it gradually worsens as you progress through a movie. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and possibly resolve this problem: 1. Check System Resources: - Make sure that your system resources (CPU, memory, etc.) are not being overly taxed. High resource usage can lead to delays in audio playback. 2. Update Video Drivers: - Ensure that your video drivers are up to date. Outdated or incompatible video drivers can sometimes cause issues with audio/video synchronization. 3. Adjust Sound Settings: - Check your sound settings in Windows to ensure that...

3. Adjust Sound Settings: - Check your sound settings in Windows to ensure that the correct sound device is selected and configured properly. 4. Check Audio Settings in Media Player: - Verify that the audio settings in your media player are correctly configured. You can also try using a different media player to see if the issue persists. 5. Test With Different File Formats: - Try playing different file formats to see if the issue is specific to AVI files. This can help determine if the problem lies in the file format itself. 6. Audio/Video Codecs: - While you mentioned installing video codecs later, ensure you have the necessary audio codecs installed as well. Sometimes, missing codecs can lead to audio/video synchronization issues. 7. ASIO Driver Compatibility: - Although your sound card is ASIO and intended for music production, it's worth checking if there are any specific ASIO driver settings that could impact video playback. 8. Check for Background Processes: - Make sure there are no background processes consuming excessive resources while you're watching the movie. Close unnecessary applications to free up system resources. 9. Update Windows: - Ensure that your Windows operating system is fully updated. Sometimes, system updates can address compatibility issues that may affect audio/video playback. 10. Test on Another System: - If possible, try playing the same movie file on a different system to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the file or your system. By systematically going through these steps, you may be able to identify the root cause of the synchronization issue between the sound and video playback on your system. If the problem persists, it might be worth seeking assistance from a technical support professional or the manufacturer of your sound card for further troubleshooting.
