Windows 10 Start Menu does not work after Windows 10 Upgrade

I upgraded from Windows 7 Home Premium to windows 10 but i have noticed i can no longer use the start menu. Also if i right click on any file in a folder or on desktop everything freezes. When i access the task manager that also freezes with a not responding in brackets at the top. How can i get this pc working again?

Specs of PC: Acer Aspire m3920 ram 8GB, processor i5 2300 graphics intel HD

Found after playing about with the hide/unhide taskbar clicking to see if it would work using the sfc /scannow at command prompt before starting windows and win+x command prompt as admin doing the system file checker again along with several restarts of windows over a period of a few hours things have started to work as normal gradually. Basically windows 10 seems to have to get used to the new hardware.
