Hi,

I tried to install the RC amd64 Version on my PC, an installation of Windows XP SP3 exists on the installation partition.
I choose a new installation and SETUP informed me, that the old Windows XP won't be able to boot because of the renaming of former %SYSTEMROOT%.

After doing the first installation steps and rebooting, Windows tried to start the second phase of the installation process.
I see the Boot Manager and choose "Windows 7".
Then I see Windows 7 booting (Windows logo appears and disappears) and suddenly the system reboots.
For a extremly short time a BSoD is visible. I can only capture few information be recording with my video cam (BSod only visible in two frames, but only a part of it).

Here's the text of the BsOD (not very helpful):
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent demage.
If this is the first time......

...disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard corruption..."

More was not visible, the screen went black.

I also tried to boot the system to save state. So I can see, that the last driver loading was "disk.sys". Then it takes a few seconds and system crashes.

Here some informations on my system:
Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3
4 GByte RAM
CPU intel E8400
ATI Radeon 9600
AHCI enabled
serial mouse and PS2 keyboard

Any idea how the find out the reason of this problem or how to go on?

Cheers

It seems like you are encountering a Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) issue during the installation process of Windows 7 on your PC. This problem can occur due to various reasons, including incompatible hardware, corrupt system files, or problematic drivers. Here are some steps you can try to diagnose and resolve the issue:

Steps to Resolve Windows 7 Installation BSoD Issue:

  1. Check Hardware Compatibility:
    • Ensure that your hardware components are compatible with Windows 7. Check the manufacturer's website for any specific Windows 7 drivers or compatibility information for your Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3 motherboard, ATI Radeon 9600 graphics card, and other peripherals.
    []Update Drivers:
    • Make sure all your drivers are up to date. If possible, try to update your graphics card driver, chipset driver, and other essential drivers to their latest versions compatible with Windows 7.
    [
    ]Check for BIOS Updates:
    • Visit Gigabyte's official website and check for any BIOS updates for your GA-EP35-DS3 motherboard. Updating the BIOS can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
    []Disable Unnecessary Hardware:
    • Temporarily disconnect any unnecessary peripherals such as external drives, printers, or additional USB devices during the installation process to rule out hardware conflicts.
    [
    ]Run CHKDSK:
    • Boot from the Windows 7 installation disk, go to the Repair your computer option, and open the Command Prompt. Run chkdsk /f to check for any hard drive corruption and attempt to fix it.
    []Check RAM:
    • Run a memory diagnostic test to check for any issues with your RAM.
    [
    ]Advanced Boot Options:
    • Try booting into Safe Mode or using the "Last Known Good Configuration" from the advanced boot options to see if Windows 7 starts successfully.
    []Reinstall Windows 7:
    • If none of the above steps work, consider reinstalling Windows 7 but pay attention to the installation process and any error messages that might provide clues to the issue.
    [
    ]Professional Help:
    • If the issue persists, it might be beneficial to seek professional help from a technician who can diagnose the problem with specialized tools. Given the specifics of your hardware and the issue you're facing, these steps should help you in troubleshooting the BSoD during the Windows 7 installation process. If you have further information or encounter specific error messages, please provide them for a more detailed analysis.
