Hi

One of the features that I missed in both Windows 7 and 8 was the ability to make the task-bar stay beneath program windows.

I have several programs that have controls very close to the bottom of the screen, and it's really a pain to have the task bar keep popping up every time I try and access them, blocking me from getting access to what I'm trying to click on.

I installed Taskbar Eliminator in Windows 7 years ago, and I've just installed the new version in Windows 8.

It's very simple, when Taskbar Eliminator is running you can click Alt T and the task bar will just disappear, or reappear instantly.

This allows the use of the full window for you application without using the hide taskbar option which lets it pop back up in front of your application window.

For me this is really handy when working in several of the programs I use a lot.

It seems like you're looking for a way to keep the taskbar hidden beneath program windows in Windows 7 and Windows 8. The Taskbar Eliminator software you mentioned provides a convenient solution for this by allowing you to toggle the visibility of the taskbar with a keyboard shortcut. Since the link you provided has been removed, I can guide you on how you might achieve similar functionality without the Taskbar Eliminator software. Here's a method to auto-hide the taskbar in Windows 7 and Windows 8:

  2. Taskbar Properties: In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window, navigate to the "Taskbar" tab.
  3. Check "Auto-hide the taskbar": Tick the checkbox next to "Auto-hide the taskbar."
  4. Apply and OK: Click on "Apply" and then "OK" to save the changes. By enabling the "Auto-hide the taskbar" feature in Windows 7 and Windows 8, the taskbar will slide down out of view and only appears when you move your cursor to the edge of the screen where the taskbar is located. This allows you to have more screen space for your applications without the taskbar blocking any controls at the bottom of your windows. You can easily access the taskbar by moving your mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen or by using the Windows key to bring it up temporarily.
